Happy Thanksgiving
Thursday, November 26, 2009 at 10:32AM Our family is extremely grateful this year to have my husband's sweet Grandma Della staying with us for the holiday weekend. Della's beloved husband of 64 years, our wonderful Grandpa Frank, passed away a year ago this month. It has been an amazing lesson for us to witness Della's contagiously optimistic attitude, despite her loss and we are grateful that, with complete honesty, she shares so much of herself with us.
Today we will enjoy a festive family Thanksgiving, complete with turkey, all the trimmings and homemade pies followed by a quiet family celebration of Sierra's 12th birthday, which was yesterday. Tomorrow, Grandma Della will be making homemade caramel apples with the kids and each year as I watch her patiently stir the cream, which eventually turns into the sweetest, smoothest caramel we've ever tasted, I'm amazed by her spirit, her strength and her attitude, which is always complaint-free, complimentary and positive.
This year, from our family to yours, may you enjoy a blessed Thanksgiving filled with precious time spent with those you love. As our family enjoys the big meal that marks this occasion, we will spend significant time reflecting on all that we have to be thankful for. With each day given to us as a gift, with no promise of tomorrow, we are purposeful in acknowledging our gratitude for the smallest blessings each day.
Happy Thanksgiving!
