Happy Birthday....

I've struggled to find the time to sit and put words to paper this week. You'd think, with all four of our kids now in school each day, writing time would be plentiful.  Instead, it's been a disconnected, discombobulated week - definitely not our family's best. It all started with the loss of our beloved horse on Monday, which was not the most upbeat way to begin the week. Breaking the news to the kids after school on Monday was not easy, but each in their unique way, courageously dealt with the grim reality and did not carry it longer than necessary. A big thank you to the many family and friends who reached out to us with kind words after this loss. We are blessed and appreciate each and every gesture of caring - thank you! 

In my disconnected haze this past week, I've not prepared properly for three important birthdays today. Lo Siento.

First, my mother-in-law Danna, who is a daily reader of my blog and who I know will get this message long before she gets our card or flowers, I digress. You do know, Danna, that we all send our love and best wishes for a terrific day and a wonderful year. We'll be thinking of you, will call you later and hope you have a VERY happy birthday! 

My friend, Janet, happy, happy birthday. We usually try to go to lunch to celebrate your day so I'll call you, make a date and we'll go! Hope it's a great day and a great year.
