Double Day...

Our family traveled north yesterday to spend the Thanksgiving weekend at the cabin. It's been a wonderful day, filled with family, fun, laughter, games and lots of delicious food...too much food! My mom, my sister and brother joined us for the festivities. The brisk mountain air made it really feel like Thanksgiving and as we stood holding hands around the supper table, we each took a moment to give thanks. Family gatherings like this always bring a few tears as the empty chair that my dad once enjoyed looks so much bigger when we're all together.

As we took time to give thanks, I said special prayers for dear family and friends. My phone beeped most of the day with sweet wishes from so many.  I had planned to sit and send greetings, but with all the cooking duties I never made it.  Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful, filled with loved ones, good food, fun times and a grateful heart.

Also falling on Thanksgiving this year, is our sweet Sierra's 13th birthday!  My friend, Micki, called and wished us a "Happy Double Day"...not just Thanksgiving, but Sierra's birthday made it a double celebration.  I like that! Sierra was beaming all day. Her sweet little friends burnt up my phone wishing her the best and of course, she is thrilled to be a teenager. She had special visitors at home before we left for the cabin as Pauline, Claire, Sue, Ed and Randall generously took the time to stop by with gifts and wish her a happy birthday - thank you!

I spent a lot of time looking at her today, remembering her as my little koala who, from birth, was always attached to me. How quickly the years tick by and how grateful I am to be such an important person in her life. I know that God has big plans for her and His work in her is only beginning. I'm so grateful to be her mom and I look forward to being part of her next 13 years!

Happy Thanksgiving, a day late of course. I did not take a look at my phone until late this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised to find a nice message from "W." Please tell him thank you!

Also, please tell our budding disciple Happy Birthday from us. I really am excited to see what God is going to do in her life.

It sounds like you all had a good weekend, I am sure you deserved the weekend away. You are all in our prayers, especially W.

Many blessings to each of you. KC

Thanks, KC. I gave Sierra your best wishes and she gave me a great big smile. Yes, our weekend was lovely and we woke to snow this morning...it was beautiful! W is doing well and I shared your note with him...another big smile. You're the best!
