Yuma
Friday, March 11, 2011 at 04:05PM So this weekend - Thursday thru Saturday - I'm in Yuma, AZ with Audra's high school varsity softball team. Sierra came down with us, so it's definitely a girls weekend. As the assistant coach this year, I'm helping transport, feed, mother and coach 14 teenage girls. (I know) We've played three games thus far and are waiting to see if we play again tonight or whether we must wait to play tomorrow morning. A I write, most of the team has LOUDLY commandeered the hotel's swimming pool and it's safe to say that the girls are having a big time, enjoying some very fun bonding time as a team.
Of course I miss Wade and the boys, but it's fun to have this time with the girls. While Audra is bunking in a room with four girls, Sierra and I are sharing both a room and a bed. I do adore Sierra, but sleeping with her is no picnic. It starts out harmlessly enough but as the night progresses, her strong, athletic legs begin to hammer my back side and front side with an occasional blow to the torso which results in a painful, sleepless night for the mama. She, on the other hand, wakes like a well-rested angel and says, "Isn't this fun, mom?" Obviously, I'm praying for her husband!
Now, with Sierra off for the afternoon playing with a friend from school who also came down to watch the team, I'm thinking that a nap (alone!) sounds pretty good. Hopefully I can get a few pictures of the girls while we're here so I can post a visual. For now, it's time for some quick shut-eye...

Carson and CC really are alike. He puts a beat down on sleeping partners, also. Have fun and be safe!
